I did not use the same technique as described though, as it had some binary error when I ran the modified notepad file. I changed it directly from the windows registry, but it was the same idea.

Its silly how Blizzard made it a tad difficult I've included a link to the Reg file fix! Install the Patch and your set!! I was also wondering what other reasons why people receive errors there are many and I doubt any1 can help every single problem! But I guess the main error that occurs when installing patches is that people are not downloading the correct patch or dont know what version they have installed on their warcraft!
