Usc viterbi overseas program

Consider all components of the course when planning your schedule. You are allowed to change courses up through the third week of classes. Exchange students are expected to enroll in units. This can be anywhere from 3 to 5 courses, depending on how many units each individual course is worth. In your application, please select as many courses as possible to ensure that you are able to enroll in at least 12 units.

Each 4-unit course at USC meets for approximately 4 hours a week. Final exams are scheduled over a 1-week period at the end of the semester. Please pay attention to the final exam schedule when selecting classes. Students take classes Monday through Thursday and then have the weekends free.

I loved the aspect of going abroad not only to get ahead on engineering coursework but to learn the history and culture of another country. About three weekends, Viterbi plans Friday excursions for students to learn about things unique to the country you are in. One of the Friday excursions in France was to visit the Champagne region in Reims, France, where we got to learn about the history and see how champagne is made. Surprisingly, the entire city is surrounded by tall granite walls because it used to be a stronghold for privateers.

School of Pharmacy students also pursue international experiences through the International Pharmaceutical Students Federation. USC Viterbi offers an array of overseas experiences from Viterbi Maymester and Fall Lead programs to semester long exchange programs and a summer research program. Viterbi study abroad programs help Viterbi students gain a global engineering perspective while working towards their academic and career goals. This program seeks to promote understanding and develop quality work relationships and experiences between the United States and Asia.

The USC Africa Student Fund is a scholarship intended to support undergraduate student travel to African countries for study, research, service-based learning, and internships.

Students who have identified a project or program are invited to apply with this funding in mind. Winners may receive full or partial funding to help cover airfare costs associated with their proposed project or program. Annenberg International Programs Annenberg International Programs offers dynamic study abroad programs specifically designed to expand upon and enhance the communication, public relations, and journalism curriculum found at Annenberg.

Dornsife Faculty-Led Programs Dornsife Faculty-Led Programs FLP are open to undergraduates from all schools and include a wide array of options such as Problems without Passports, core courses, and basic language courses that reflect various disciplines and studies, include domestic and international travel and range in duration from one week to an entire semester.

Department of Population and Public Health Sciences The Department of Preventive Medicine offers unique international study experiences in various countries around the world. Keck School of Medicine The Keck School of Medicine supports international research and clinical experiences for medical students. Master of Science in Global Medicine Program Global Medicine students have the opportunity to travel three times per year.

Price Global Engagement Office International Labs are experiential learning opportunities in which USC students integrate classroom knowledge with professional practice by providing policy-related consulting services outside the United States.

There are numerous benefits to going abroad, both academic and personal. On an academic level, you will become a more well-rounded student by taking courses not offered on campus, or those similar to on-campus courses with a different academic context.

You can also develop new intellectual pursuits, improve both your foreign language and English communication skills, or begin a new language.

You will become more self-reliant and resourceful, make new friends, learn about your heritage or gain new perspectives on your identity, and delve into local arts, culture, cuisine, and sports.

You will also make your resume more attractive to future employers because you will improve your interpersonal skills, and you can even gain international internship or volunteer experience. All students going abroad must have a passport, which should be valid for at least six months beyond the last day of their program. Visa procedures are different for each country, and processing times can take as little as one day or as long as three months.

Note that most consulates keep your passport while processing your visa, so you will not be able to travel outside of the US during that time.
