If you can't bridge the connections it's because the Sharing has to be completely disabled from your main wireless connection Mine was belkin54g so go onto that - properties - sharing - untick all boxes and click OK. Then bridging the connection will work,. When I tested the connection with my xbox it told me to restart my router, and tada it worked.
So basically, no sharing, bridge, restart router, test, play XBL :P I hope this helps some people who are having problems. Can you help me? The local area connection isn't there and i have the ethernet cable connected to my laptop and but there isn't a local area connection just wireless network connection.

That same with me, ive done all the steps and there successfll but when i run the test on xbox live connection it passes the network point easy but wont pass the internet one plz help. I have done all this bridged the connections and everything and when i run the test for the xbox live connection the network test is succesful but when its doing the internet one it fails and says it cannot connect to the internet, try your pc so i do and it is fine??

Reply 11 years ago on Introduction. You can connect to xbox live using this method but i personally wouldn't recomend it. I connected in this way for approximatly months when i was connected in this way i went through around 8 most of which had the same error i can't remember the exact code but console displayed 3 red lights and error message i asked guy at the store were a kept returning my consoles and he said the error was to do with hardware failure on the ethernet port.
I kept getting newer consoles which also broke the one i have now is one that i had previously returned but having been repaired shortly after recieving this console i stopped connecting through my laptop and i've had this one for at least without and problems.
I would risk this if you don't have a guarantee on your xbox i was lucky that with store i bought my console from i could just go a swap it for another there and then with out having to send it off. I'm using the connection it works.
BUT everytime I play, the server times like every two minutes. Does anyone know how to fix this? Because the connection is always excellent or very good. Sorry dude!
