HCC interns support your priority projects, advance your diversity goals, and provide a talent pipeline for your organization. Gain experience, exposure, and mentorship through our paid summer internship. I was able to learn how to effectively communicate with health organizations and industries that collaborate to provide health services to the community.

Thank you to HCC and my preceptor for this experience. Health care careers need more diversity and we need more bright ideas from those who have seen firsthand the other side of health equity - to be able to empower those who have been there themselves is to create a wonderful future for health care. I was able to meet and connect with leaders in the health policy field. My HCC experience taught me that there is more than one way to achieve your career goals, and this impacted how I thought about how I can achieve my goals.

This experience also contributed to my professional and personal growth. I have learned a lot about what I want in a career based on this experience Through my internship, I now have mentors and real-world experience that have been invaluable.

It has definitely been my most rewarding summer experience. HCC connects organizations in all health sectors with talented and diverse future health professionals and leaders. Managed a variety of patient prevention and wellness initiatives, such as nutrition, diabetes, and depression management programs.

Developed curriculum on sugar-sweetened beverages, as well as health education materials for Spanish speaking patients. Organized several health fairs for local Santa Ana youth and families to access health resources, services, and education.

Helped develop srategies to increase voter engagement through voter registration campaigns and education. Interned with grantee Mt. Assisted with planning, coordinating, and evaluating the Medical Careers and Technology MedCaT , a health career oriented educational summer camp for Native American and Appalachian high school students in North Carolina. Conducted policy research for the National Comprehensive Healthy Schools Policy Campaign which focused on safe spaces, healthy and safe food and water and increased physical activity in schools.

Updated and maintained progressive model policies for the Transforming Communities database. Internship Project Examples. Interns work in a variety of settings, such as: Hospitals and health systems Foundations Medical groups and physician practice management organizations Health departments city, county, and state Community health centers and clinics Government agencies Consulting firms Community-based organizations and non-profits Advocacy organizations and foundations Associations, consortia, and coalitions Start-ups.

Interns support an array of projects and initiatives, including: Community health, health equity, and addressing social determinants of health Health education Health administration and management Health policy and advocacy Health IT Nursing administration. Rooted in diversity and inclusion, each Administrative Fellow is assigned a preceptor from the executive team for the duration of the program.

Participants are exposed to various aspects of academic medicine, community delivery and the functions of one of the largest integrated healthcare delivery systems. The Fellowship provides hands-on experience and professional training to active duty military members who are within six months of separation from the military.

The goal of the program is to facilitate the participants transition from military service to a purposeful civilian career.
